Re-create a Biological Corridor in a Costa Rican Cloud Forest
Or go to our online store treesave,
and purchase items with images from the cloud forest - each item sold
brings
in enough to plant one tree. See
examples below of
t-shirts, coffee mugs, calendar.

You
can help plant trees like this little aguacatillo. It costs about
$2 per tree to buy and deliver saplings, or to pay a
local worker to go into the forest and selectively cull saplings that
will regenerate indigenous trees.
The
aguacatillo
(wild avocado, persea caerulea) is the source of one of the
favorite foods of the endangered
resplendent
quetzal.
|
You can also help
maintain
the
trees that
have been planted Clearing is required at least once every 4-6 weeks.
It takes about 4-6 clearings every rainy season to keep the weeds and
encroaching grass away. This costs about $6 per tree per season.
|
Another $2 goes to
maintenance, and measurement
tasks. Thus the total
to get a sapling going for a year is about $10 per tree. All of this
money
gives work to the local villagers.
If you would like to
play your part, but cannot come to the reserve to work on the
conservation project, you can help with a small contribution. How many
trees can you afford to plant? We'll acknowledge your donation by
email. Your contribution can be made by credit card: via PayPal,
by clicking on the "Plant Trees" button above.
