| La Reserva Privada Cloudbridge se estableció para preservar y renovar un espacio del bosque nuboso que junta el Río Chirripó Pacifico en las cuestas de Cerro Chirripó, la montaña más alta de Costa Rica. La reserva tiene tres propósitos: El
primero trata de ayudar a la naturaleza para volver a conectar otra vez
dos partes del bosque tropical nuboso que se habían sido
separadas por pasto.
Restaurar y preservar el bosque nativo aumenta el biodiversidad para lo cual los bosques neotropicales, y para lo cual ésos en Costa Rica en particular, son tan famosos. También, preservar el bosque y plantar los árboles ayuda a compensar la contaminación aérea. Además, los bosques nubosos tienen una capacidad extraordinaria de retener el agua de los nubes. Así por su impacto en la calidad del agua, de la tierra, de la atmósfera, del clima y de las numerosas especies de plantas y animales conocidas y desconocidas, los bosques nubosos afectan profundamente la vida que los rodea y la salud del planeta entero. El segundo propósito intenta demostrar que la reforestacíon puede crear empleos y sostener las familias.
Parte de la reserva es dedicada a la "forestación sostenible." Es decir que crea un bosque de árboles comerciales, que tiene valor permanente y que crea trabajos para la comunidad local en una manera que promueve la ecología natural. Los grupos mixtos de árboles indígenas estarán mantenidos y cosechados selectivamente cuando cada tipo se madure. El
tercer propósito es crear un lugar, un refugio, donde puede
venir la gente para respirar aire fresco, tomar el agua pura y sentirse
parte de las montañas, los ríos y los árboles.

Cloudbridge Private Nature Reserve was established to conserve and reforest a gap in the cloud forest adjoining the Chirripó Pacifico river on the slopes of Mt. Chirripó, the highest mountain in Costa Rica. The reserve has three purposes: To
help rebuild a deforested part of the tropical cloud forest, thus
bridging a gap between two mountainside forests. As well as protecting
the existing forest and allowing natural regrowth, we are planting a
mix of native trees, thousands of them, to turn pasture back into
forest.
Restoring and preserving the native forest protects the biodiversity for which the neotropical forests, and those in Costa Rica in particular, are so famous. Deforestation is causing the loss of about 100 species every day -- 4 species per hour. Preserving forest and planting trees also helps offset air pollution and counteract global climate change. Thus through their impact on the air, water and soil quality, flood control, climate patterns, and numerous known and unknown plant and animal species, cloud forests profoundly affect life surrounding them and life around the planet. To demonstrate that reforestation can improve lives and sustain livelihoods.
A small part of the reserve is dedicated to "sustainable forestation," which means creating a forest that will have permanent value. The project has already created employment for the local community in a way that enhances the environment of the area. Mixed stands of indigenous trees are being cared for and in the future some will be harvested as each type reaches maturity, ensuring continuity of the forest canopy. The
third purpose is to create a haven where people can come, to hike,
breathe fresh air, drink pure water and delight in the natural beauty
of the mountains, the trees and the rivers.
